How to do Kapalabhati Sit tall with spine erect. Focus on the sharp exhale — belly snaps in and up with each pump. As the belly releases, a small amount of air flows back in naturally. There is no deliberate inhale. Keep the pace steady and rhythmic.

After completing your pumps: exhale fully and hold out (bahya kumbhaka) — apply all three bandhas (mula, uddiyana, jalandhara). Then inhale fully and hold in (antara kumbhaka) — mula + jalandhara only.

A video guide coming soon.
When to avoid
Avoid during pregnancy, menstruation, high blood pressure, heart conditions, or epilepsy. Not recommended if you have a hernia, glaucoma, recent abdominal surgery, or on a full stomach. Stop and rest if you feel dizzy, nauseous, or lightheaded.

Vishnu mudra — right hand Fold index + middle fingers gently into the palm.

Thumb closes right nostril.
Ring finger closes left nostril.

Traditional practice uses the right hand; left-handed practitioners may use the left.

On inhale retention: hold mula + jalandhara bandha.
When to avoid
Kumbhaka (breath retention) is not advised during pregnancy. If you have a respiratory condition, start with shorter holds or omit the retention entirely. Never force or strain — the breath should feel expansive, not effortful.
